Access to Foz do Iguaçu by plane
-
Foz do Iguaçu Airport (IGU), also known as Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, is a medium-sized airport in Brazil serving the Foz do Iguaçu region. It currently operates direct domestic flights to several Brazilian capitals and major cities, as well as a single direct international flight to Santiago, Chile. There are no direct flights to Peru; connections to Lima and other Peruvian cities require at least one stop.
For travelers arriving from North America, Europe, Africa, or Asia, the most practical option is to fly first to a major Brazilian international hub—such as São Paulo (GRU), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), or Brasília (BSB)—or to other regional gateways like Buenos Aires (EZE/AEP) in Argentina or Santiago (SCL) in Chile. From these hubs, frequent domestic or regional flights connect directly to Foz do Iguaçu (IGU). -
Puerto Iguazú Airport (IGR), also known as Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, is a small airport in Argentina that operates only domestic flights. At present, it offers direct flights to seven destinations within Argentina, connecting the Misiones Province with key cities across the country.
- Ciudad del Este Airport (AGT), also known as Guaraní International Airport, is the second-largest airport in Paraguay. At present, it operates a single scheduled route: a domestic flight to and from Asunción (ASU), operated by Paranair using Bombardier CRJ-200ER aircraft. This non-stop service takes approximately 40–45 minutes, covering a distance of around 167 km. There are no direct international flights from this airport; passengers traveling abroad must connect through Asunción or other hubs.
